Welcome to Your Garden! The conservatory, Gardeners Show House, Garden Shop and North Gallery exhibit are open Tuesday-Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The outdoor gardens are open weather permitting.

Story Sprouts

Join us for a fun, interactive story time to celebrate Black History month. Participants will enjoy two stories and a short episode of Iowa PBS's Xavier Riddle and the Secret Museum featuring Georgie Washington Carver. Included with the price of admission.

Natural Dyes and George Washington Carver Drop-In
Saturday, Feb. 27, 11 a.m-3 p.m.

Explore some of the textile innovations of George Washington Carver, including botanical dyes. Learn how dyes are made and create your own botanical tie-dye handkerchief. This activity will allow groups to work at their own pace and socially distance. Available while supplies last! $5 for members & nonmembers.

We have implemented several new guidelines and procedures to help ensure the continued health of our guests, staff and volunteers. Guests must adhere to all safety protocols.

  • General admission will be exclusively by advanced online reservation/timed ticketing through the Garden’s website at dmbotanicalgarden.com or over the phone by calling 515.323.6290.  Entry is not guaranteed to those who arrive without a ticket, with the exception of members, Library Adventure Pass participants, Museums for All participants, and participants of the Pineapple Program tokens.
  • The number of guests allowed in during each block will be capped to ensure appropriate social distancing guidelines.
  • Guests will follow a one-way path through the conservatory and Gardeners Show House. Groups should not exceed five (5) people unless direct family members.
  • Drinking fountains will not be accessible, so please bring your own water.
  • Face coverings are required at all times, excluding children under age 2. Guests will not be allowed entry without adequate face covering.
  • Maintain a 6-foot distance between yourself and others not in your group.
  • Do not visit the Garden if you are ill, exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or have received a positive test for COVID-19 in the last 14 days; if anyone in your household is ill, exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or have received a positive test for COVID-19 in the last 14 days; or if you have been in contact with anyone who is ill, exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or have received a positive test for COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
  • Trellis Café will be open for lunch Wednesday-Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • High touch surfaces throughout the Garden, including the restrooms, will be regularly cleaned and sanitized throughout the day to enhance hygiene and safety.
